I’ve known Darnyelle A, Jervey for a few years now, but a couple of weeks ago I had the opportunity to sit down with her and work on my business. To say that the time we spent was valuable would be an understatement. I had a paradigm shift. I’m doing so much more with less time and energy and loving every minute of it.
However, even though I enjoy my new mindset, I wish someone had told me about this when I first started my business. My business degree in marketing wasn’t enough. I needed something in addition to that.
So, I’m writing you to tell you what I wish someone had told me. If they had, I would be writing this article on the beaches in Maui (my definition of success) instead of in my home office.
So, here goes.
You don’t have to convince your prospects to be clients
THIS IS A BIG DEAL. That’s why it’s the first point. See, I spent the last few years building a list and then sending them countless emails begging them to try my services. And it never worked.
I’m a relationship coach so forgive my dating example, but it’s kind of like trying to convince a guy he should love you. It’s a waste of time. The best way to fall in love is to be with someone who already knows how loveable you are. And the best way to do business is to talk with prospects who already know you have the solution to their problem.
Making $100 and making $10,000 takes the same work
This point really did a number on my noodle. Think about the person who’s doing what you want to do and living the success you want to achieve. Now, guess what. They have the same life force running through their body as you do. And they get the same 24 hours a day that you do. The only difference between you and them is their mindset. And when I say mindset, I mean the knowledge, wisdom and frame of mind that create a perspective.
You see, that person wakes up every day and expects to make $10,000 or $100,000 with the 24 hours they’ve been blessed with. And they use their mindset to produce those results. In order for you to do the same, you not only need to learn what they know, but gain their perspective. When do you that, you’ll be able to produce what you truly want to produce instead of what you produce now.
You don’t need hundreds of clients to be confident
I thought that when I had served at least one thousand clients I’d be worthy of prospecting major companies to work with me. But after talking to Darnyelle, I realized how backwards that was and why I could start prospecting companies right now.
You see, I’m a darn good coach. And there are tons of companies whose clients could use what I have to offer. Just the fact that I have ravings fans, strong testimonials, and a solid program is enough to make some bigger moves.
Because Darnyelle herself plays big, she was able to help me see the possibilities for myself, and now I’m doing things I’d never have done before.
Let me close with this statement. “An increase in your wealth must first beginning with a shift in your mind.” I never understood this before because I didn’t know that mindset included perspective or that perspective only comes when you interact with someone who can help you.
Whatever you do for the next 12 months, make it your business to get in Darnyelle’s space and soak up her knowledge, wisdom and frame of mind for your business. You’ll start walking on water – I guarantee it.
